what info from from a dell service tag #

Recall when everyone did the $750 off deal to get a new dell laptop. Well I did that, but I am selling my old 5100 model on ebay currently. I am getting questions about the laptop (obviously), but one guy asked me for my actual service tag #. Now it is perfectly alright to just give the # to a random person on ebay? Are they able to do a query of it on the dell website? Can they extract any personal info from my service tag?

My main question is, is there any harm giving someone your dell service tag #?

Also I will have to search for it, but when we had the $750 off thread, someone posted the dell ownership transfer link to transfer one computer into another person's name. Any help is appreciated.

They can't get any info with the Service Tag # unless they also have your name / address / etc info.
