ok in that case, if god asked me to do anything I'd ask him to explain why and if I didn't understand and agree, I'd tell him to go away and and do it himself

Will you play poker with me in hell, Chez?

Sure. I had been hoping for purgatory but they've gone and abolished it.

How could any devout Catholic answer "no" to this question and still be a Catholic tomorrow? Ditto for any other religion that believes in an omniscient, omnipotent God who is loving and provides eternal glory?

If God demanded you to sacrifice your son to him would you do so?

Yes.

A false premise can imply anything.

I assume God exists, and that I am uber-royal-fooked if I disobey, whereas I'm just down a son, and a rotten bastard if I obey.

But not eternally punished.

So yeah, Isaac's one dead little boy.

He already did this with His own Son, so there's no need for it to be done again.

What do you mean by God. Would a 'good' God ever ask to sacrifice a son if it weren't for some greaterness? If that weren't the case, if the God was asking to sacrifice for no reason at all, which would cause you the pain of losing your son, then we could call it a 'bad' God. So to answer the question we'd need to see if God is good or bad.

What do you mean?

An all powerful, all knowing god with the gift of eternal happiness and damnation for me and my son asks for an insignificant action from me, what sacrifice?

The death of a loved one is only bad because its the end.

"Well, God said to Abraham, 'kill me a son'.
Abe said, 'man, you must be puttin me on'.
God said 'no'.
Abe said 'what?'
God said 'you can do what you want Abe but
the next time you see me comin you better run'.
And Abe said 'where you want this killin done?'
and God said 'do it on Highway 61'"
