Default Legality

Don't worry, I'm not going to do anything illegal, this is just general intrest. A friend asked me two questions, the first being forum appropriate.
1. Is it illegal to gamble online if gambling is illegal in your state? Or is it a loophole of some sort?
and 2. Is there a website that shows legal gambling ages for every state?
Thanks to anyone who cares.

what is illegal, and what is prosecuted are two different things. Even if it is illegal, it is not goint to be enforced against players.

The basic idea is that if it is illegal in your jurisdiction, it is illegal!

However, IMO it would be good for onlinepoker if it were legal, since more recreational players would feel comfortable playing and depositing.

a lot of laws are very ambiguous anyways and don't cover internet gambling since they tend to be very specific about the "illegal action", as in " any grocery, store or dramshop by betting at cards,". The ambiguity in the laws is one of the reason these "laws" won't be prosecuted, the other is just that prosecuters won't bother, the same way cops don't bother busting tailgating at college campuses.
