Default New Year\'s Eve in Las Vegas.

Please give me your opinion.

The place to be. Insanely fun. Good time.
Overcrowded. Overpriced. Overhyped.

What say you 2+2 to two couples late-20s to mid-30s?

Vegas is always fun. It will also be overcrowded.

Triple:

I think New Year's Eve is generally all of the above (anywhere) unless you are with a bunch of your friends. As with any New Year's Eve planning you have to find out what the deal is with the restaurants, bars or clubs that you want to frequent. Most places charge big $$$$ at the door or by buying tickets in advance and that generally limits you to one place for the whole night.

That said if I was in Vegas for New Year's I would want to be at some of the nicer clubs or some of the wildest locations on top of the casinos overlooking the city. Ghost (Palms), Voodoo Lounge (Rio), Mix (The Hotel at Mandalay) and The Foundation Room (Mandalay) all have amazing views of the city and could deliver a great New Year's Eve experience.

Depends on if you want to spend money. I note that deluxe rooms at IP are still available at $208 both Friday and Saturday night which is a really good price for that area.

That said, new years eve is insanely packed. The strip closes to cars. BUT, I think going to Vegas for NY eve is something you more likely want to do single, not as a couple. Getting drunk, smoking cigars, and carousing on the strip seem more like something you want to do with friends than with gf's/wifes.

I went a couple years ago with 6 other friends and all said it was the best Vegas trip they had ever had.

If you do go, make reservations ahead of time for dinner/clubs/parties. You'll be plenty sorry if you do not. Or you can chow at the quite delicious Alladin buffet and just hit the strip for fireworks which is what we did.
