Etgryph might have corrected the Kilgore/Gilmore gaffe... but Kilgore is using the same "cut your taxes but do more [censored]" spiel, so I can understand the confusion.

Kaine is a HUGE favorite on Tradesports right now. I personally believe Kaine will win, but Kilgore has a lot of value now with an ask of 30. Happy to report I got Kaine at 34... back when nobody believed he had a chance.

I think you will see depressed Republican turnout and increased Dem turnout (especially in NoVA) because of the national state of affairs.

Considering how low Bush is in the polls, if Gilmore wins Virginia, you got to admit that has huge significance. A GOP pickup of the seat held by one of the most popular Democrat governors in the country.

It certainly would show that GOP voters are ready to turnout despite their feelings of meh towards Bush.

[/ QUOTE ]

"Huge significance"? Meh, no matter who wins (so long as its reasonably close). Pataki has won three terms in New York. Does that mean it will be "huge[ly] significan[t]" if Spitzer wins next election? Virginia is a solidly "red state", and the only reason that Warner got to be Governor is because Republicans screwed things up so badly (under GILMORE, remember?) that the voters threw them out.

I will agree that a big win either way would be significant.

How can Mark Warner be a credible Presidential candidate if he can not keep the governorship in his party's hands as the incumbant? Elections are about the incumbant to a large extent. Mark Warner will be shown to be something of a failure.

While one could argue that... Tim Kaine isn't Mark Warner. If Warner could run for re-election, he'd coast to a 60%+ victory. I love Tim Kaine and I love Mark Warner, but people won't vote for Tim SOLELY because they like Warner.

You know, maybe you're right. Maybe these elections are very, very, very meaningful. Especially VA.

Kaine is leading by about 5% right now with almost 90% of the vote in.

Or, it will simply show, once again, how ignorant/uninformed/dense/easily swayed, the general electorate is. They simply can not understand how evil the Repubs are. They lap up the lies and distortions the Repubs spew.

No matter how many times the Dems repeat the truth. No matter how wonderful all the Dem plans for doing everything right. No matter how wonderful the US (and the rest of the world) would be with nothing but Dems in elected offices. People just don't get it.

I agree with what you said about the Repbulicans. However, I'm not sure the Dems are a whole lot better.
