KK again
2/4 PP
Hero K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Villian seems very loose Pre-flop: Hero raises first in (mp1) and only BB calls Flop: J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] BB bets, Hero calls Turn: 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] BB bets, Hero raises, BB reraises - What do you do ? Don't think and just call down ? With what hands can he reraise ? |

Re: KK again
I'd call down unless I river my T.

Re: KK again
Tell me again why you didn't raise the flop?

Re: KK again
because he is a loose calling station. So if he has Q and maybey even J , he would call down a raise on the turn. So waiting to raise is an extra 2 bucks.

Re: KK again
Raise the flop. Call down if 3-bet.
The way you played it, I still think you need to call it down. |

Re: KK again
While KT is a possible for villain (giving you 3 outs to chop), QJ, Q9, J9 seem more likely. To this you have 12 outs to improve discounted to maybe 11. Call the turn and bet the river if improved.

[/ QUOTE ] i also like to use this strategy when the hand is played HU and i hit the flop real good either with an overpair like KK or AA or with AK and K or A on the flop. that way i get in a raise on a bigger bet instead of villain folding directly to my flop reraise.. what do you think? |

Re: KK again
[ QUOTE ]
Raise the flop. [/ QUOTE ] I think skills is probably right here that raising the flop is a better play, but this post led me to a mini poker-epiphany. Namely, the play of waiting until the turn to raise in heads-up pots with strong but not totally unbeatable hands (overpairs, TPTK, etc...) is really better reserved for boards that are very bland. Namely, boards with lots of draws or several cards in the "playing zone" (to use a MLH term) don't really lend themselves to this play, because you will find yourself often waiting to raise on the big streets when you are in fact behind. It can put you in a very difficult spot on the turn, as you found yourself here, and you will already have put in multiple big bets before you realize you are [censored]. So on suspect boards like the one in the OP, the best play will probably be simply to raise the flop. The hand will be much easier to play. As played, I'm calling the turn bet and the river, raising if I hit my T, as others have said. |

Re: KK again
i also do that a lot, especially against loose players who will call anyway.
