It's impossible to log on to pokerstar's homepage or connect to their software from anywhere on Michigan State University's campus. It looks like MSU has banned their website as, a firewall upgrade might stop it from connecting to their rooms but shouldn't block their website.

It seems very unlikely that they would block on major poker site and not the others...

don't know about that. i could see there being some student who got himself into a lot of debt, or his parents got a mailing from pokerstars, complained to the school, and the IT guys just wanted to mollify that rather than actually squash pokering at the school.

I've had friends try to connect to pokerstars from 5 differnt dorms and a computer lab on campus to no avail. I have friends who have houses/apartments in East Lansing and can connect to pokerstars. It jus don't make sense that a firewall problem would prevent access to the stars homepage so I'm thinking they must of banned it. I might have to move back home =/.

FWIW, I'm in Israel, and I can't connect to stars' software OR website, which I don't remember ever happening before. It's a bit weird.

Your school's probably starting a poker crackdown on the campus LAN. Have you tried any of the other sites? If they are down as well I can guarantee that they are blocking all poker ports at the firewall/router. One way around this is to use a proxy server outside of their network. Just google it, there are tons of different ways.
