According to an article in a British newspaper he made £500000-600000 (I don't remember the exact number) on Ladbroke's alone last year, so I wouldn't be surprised if the number is correct.

It could be done in a year if you can clear 1.426 BB/hr from a $300/$600 game (assuming you play 16 hours a day, 365 days a year, heh), or equivalently, in two years with that rate playing 8 hours a day.

I don't know what kind of timeframe we're talking about here, but if it's two years or more, it certainly seems possible.
