yes...later in the thread.
When I first read it I didn't know if he was referring to Tunica or Biloxi but I think I remembered him writing about Tunica before so I was able to make the assumption. |

[/ QUOTE ] Sorry bout that. Yes, Tunica. Anyway turns out I was misinformed. There doesn't appear to be a Sat 530 tourney in Tunica. I really wish one of the casinos in Tunica had a Sat evening one. |

Re: The Grand is grand.
Sorryabout that - coulda sworn the floor said it was Saturday - hope you didn't go down there looking for it...
Another topic - is there any type of bus/shuttle between Memephis and Tunica? I would think the hotels down there would have a chartered bus deal setup to bring in the Memphis tourists and locals - at least on the weekend.. |

Re: The Grand is grand.
Starting next weekend we'll be running $230 tourneys at Horseshoe. Friday at 11am, and Saturday and Sunday at 12. (Or something like that) May be 11 on Saturday. Poker rooms are far too busy on a Saturday night for a tourney these days. With all due respect, tourneys are generally set up at times when the room seems to be lacking. One example being the 4am tourneys at Gold Strike. I'm sure you've seen the room at Horseshoe on a Saturday night. We couldn't squeeze a small tourney in the back corner.

My wife and I went down to the Grand so I could play a little. [/ QUOTE ] When were you there? Friday? I was wearing a grey Alabama sweatshirt. Mini trip report: 17.5 hours over friday and saturday, +31BB. I've played at the grand a few times before, but this was the first time I stayed there, and I'll be back. Some downsides to the Grand: 1) No Coke, Pepsi. WTF? I don't even think a whale can get a coke in this joint. 2) No food comps for your (non-playing) spouse. This seems to be standard at Goldstrike and Horseshoe, but the brush said they were trying to get this changed. This really wasn't that big of a problem, since my wife's nickel video poker play was more than enough to get her stuff comped. 3) The poker room can only book hotel rooms in the Veranda hotel. Grand has three hotels on their Tunica property, but only one is actually connected to the boat. The other two are on the other side of the river levy. There is a fleet of shuttle busses that roll 24/7, so you never have to wait more than about two minutes to catch one, so this isn't that big of a deal, either. Plus, it's better than staying at the Horseshoe where they try to shoehorn the poker players into the noisy rooms in the old hotel directly above the casino floor. Other than that, I was very happy with my trip. The room management was very helpful (had a mix-up with the hotel room which they cleared up very quickly for me), and the dealers were average to excellent (I didn't observe any serious mistakes, and in fact, never even saw anyone get annoyed at a dealer, which was probably a first for me). |

I was thinking IF they had one at that time I MIGHT be able to convince my wife to let me go down there twice in 1 weekend. I think the Grand is adding 5000 to their Sunday tourney. They are supposed to be adding 5k to the 2pm (Apr 10th). For every hour of live play from 6am - noon on that day you get 500 extra in tourney chips. The tourney is like 120 entry for 8k chips. No rebuys no addons |

Many people rip the Grand dealers but they are usually very nice and good dealers. Ahmad is my fav |
