I don't know if he can find a charity that he can confidently put $7.5 million and say it'll go to good use so I would have to say no, he probably would not donate it all. I listened to his radio for the Hurricane Katrina tournament. The host of the radio show suggested to ask the final table winners to donate some of their winnings to the Relief. Barry said that it's not fair to put pressure on them to give their winnings to charity when they could be needing the money for something more important in their lives. He also followed up by saying that he's giving money to charity because he's finally made enough money that he has everything in his life and his family taken care of. He's fully aware that he's not a generous saint, he just has the money to give away. In other words, tournament winnings are only a little more than pocket change for him. But it's still a good act of favor that he gives it to charity. By the way, what should he do with the winnings then? Should he keep it to himself? Huh? I think he is extrememly generous, but everytime i see the guy he's boasting how he is so generous.

Toddy, I've never seen him boasting about his donations. Can you recall a point where he wasn't simply stating it? Have you ever heard him implying anything remotely close to "I'm giving money to charity, therefore I am a great guy"?

Would it be better if he made sure everyone knew he was going to spend it on Jack Daniel's and cocaine? And no, I don't think he would donate the entire $7.5M. He would probably cover his entry fee and other expenses and tip the dealers first. (I see this attitude all the time... I think what it comes down to is that many people can't comprehend having $7.5M, let alone being able to give it away. So they get jealous and come up with reasons to hate.)

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah, umm, just to be clear, I was saying there's really no motivation to lie about something like that. The only possible reason I can think of for someone to lie about that would be so people play worse against you. Ie you tell them if you win it's going to charity, so they feel less bad making bad moves against you. But I was saying I doubt that's the case.

Well yea, but I can't think of enough charities to give $7.5 million to. You need 750 charities that you can be confident to give $100,000 to, or 7500 charites that you can be confident to give $10000 to. I just can't get that kind of confidence in charity organizations unless I had at least 200 million dollars myself. Call it the charity bankroll =P.
