Default line check on hand

bodog .25/.50

hero and opponent start out with 50 each

EP raises to 2.50, 4 folds, hero calls (6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]), all fold
pot (5.75)flop: 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
EP checks, hero bets 4, EP raises to 8, hero calls
pot (21.75)
turn 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
EP checks, hero checks
pot (21.75)
river K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
EP bets 5.25, hero raises to 20, EP calls 14.75

i would like some input on whether the flop bet was alright. Since my bluff didn't work, I didn't think the call of the check-raise wasn't that bad, since it was only a minimum raise.

Not really getting the odds to call the flop raise, especially since the board is paired. I like the rest of it.

Fold to the flop raise. You are 6 high. Don't be results oriented. You should have not shown the hand after the fold raise.

you would put the opponent on an 8 since he raised from an EP?

Why are you calling a raise on the flop?

You only have 4 outs for the gutshot straight. The possibility of runner-runner for your flush gives maybe an extra out.

Also,

How many people here are calling a 5x BB raise w/ small suited connectors with only one other person in the hand?

Unless you were both deep stacks, I'm not sure this is worth it.

Well, no, but probably a better hand than 6 high

I hate being pushed around by minraises like this, I dunno exactly why I tend to call these but I'm thinking it's bad for my table image or whatever, it just feels better to not fold them, very generally speaking ofcourse.

Preflop call is only if I think I can get most (if not all) of his stack if I hit a good flop, you should consider reading supersystem if you want to learn a little more about SCs value :P
Obviously I don't call this vs shortstacks (<50bb effective stack) but with ok stacks I like it

You should reread it. This only works provided you dump your hand when the flop misses (like it did here).

So you should never try to steal the pots when checked to, just because you happen to have SCs?
