What I Learned From Tonights "Tilt" Episode

I learned that combining rounders and charlie's angels will make you a hit new series on ESPN. I like it though.

I learned two things: once you waste an hour of your life you can't get it back, and make sure you have the cops review the security tapes BEFORE next week rolls around and they automatically erase them.

i learned many things.
1) never play the matador, he's a cheating bastard
2) i now know how to explain to others what it feels like when i go broke. it feels like a ninja, before i feel the blade its all over.
3) that even i, with no acting experience whatsoever, can work for ESPN.

Nice cameo - I learned that even the pro players like Daniel Negreanu are smart enough not to stick around a crooked table like the Matador's.

Basically - its the Mod Squad in Vegas with a revenge kick -in a more dark, less appealing town. Wonder if the Vegas Chamber of Commerce likes this show? Didn't really paint Vegas as a safe place to be in.

The scene where the guy goes to "relieve" himself and the hooker is waiting for him in the bathroom was a bit classless for ESPN imho. Move this series to HBO and stick to sports.

Overall, TILT was mildly entertaining but I didn't want my kids in the room when I watched it. Made the poker scene look like its filled with too many cheats and crooks. Not the reputation that I think the blossoming new poker industry wants to promote.

So what did I learn? When you play poker - trust no-one. It pays to have "an edge" when you're out there amongst the wolves. Also, suck out as much money out of the masses on the poker craze while you can. Thanks ESPN.

What I learned from this episode is that poker doesn't seem like a game I can play. I don't cheat so I would be at a disadvantage every time I sit down.

I also learned not to try out higher stakes games because the pokerroom manager will berate me and think that I'm a dumb tourist.

A friend invited me to a home game to have some fun and learn to play, but I'm really no interested in going anymore. I don't own a gun, so I can't defend myself when someone string bets. Also they might think I'm a cop because I'm white.

Screw poker - I'll leave that game to the cheaters, hustlers and gangbangers.

On the other hand, "Tilt" makes it obvious that the bulk of hands that make it to showdown and take the pot are 3-4 suited and 5-9 offsuit and junk like that.
