Re: Make any stoplight green
[ QUOTE ]
The $300-$400 ones are only for people qualified to buy them. If you built these and sold them on the street, you could get much more for them, assuming you could get people who weren't worried about the inherent legal problems. [/ QUOTE ] Like who? Even ambulances and police cars just turn on lights and run the lights. Who would be legally authorized? |

Re: Make any stoplight green
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I wonder what you could sell these for? [/ QUOTE ] A commercial version was selling for $300-400 for end users from authorized dealers. I found the DIY ones after reading this article. Freakin [/ QUOTE ] I meant selling them on the street. Someone was trying to sell these legitimately? That has to be illegal. [/ QUOTE ] Well, these are produced commercially by 3M. 3M manufactures both the transmitters and receivers. THe receivers cost between 15-20k to purchase and install/configure. This guy is basically a parasite (in 3M's words), selling only the transmitter. His dealers will only sell to authorized agencies (such as PD, FD, & hospitals)--not to someone like a pizza guy (who actually tried to buy one). If he receives reports of a dealer selling one to individuals, he terminates their agreements. I'm sure on the street you could sell them for over $100 if they worked. Of course, selling them is just as illegal as using them now (but wasn't in 2003 when the commercial MIRT was released) Freakin |
