Like McQueen said, SSH says not to slowplay a suited/connected board. But your line wasn't awful just not the best one.

Wrong. Not betting the flop is 100% awful.

Not enough sleep there Brad?

Reread the posts. I said you had to bet the flop.

100% agreed. Betting puts money into the pot. It is a good thing to do when you're likely to win.

This flop "check behind with a great hand" nonsense is starting to spread, and it is pretty disturbing IMO. Bet the damn flop already people.

Agreed.

Since you are last to act people will always put you on a bluff on PP. Use that to your adv. Most mid to low PPs will call your flop bet thinking they are ahead of you. Plus you will get bets out of evert gutshot and flushdraw out there. Lost a lot of bets not betting out. Also on the turn you will get c/r by the person with the 8 thus allowing you to 3bet the expensive street or depending on his relation to you on the table smoothcall his c/r and raise the river after trapping people for 1 bet.

Hi, you missed tons of best by slowplaying this.

The conditions for slowplaying are close to never there in games 1/2 and lower.

Dont slowplay big pots, multiway pots, pots where there are cards you dont want to see or where there arent any 2. best hands for them to catch.
Dont slowplay against callstations.

Dont slowplay at all till you know when itīs right, you will be better off that way.

Read TOP after SSH.

I was wondering what I should read after SSH. Does anyone else have any other good books to recommend as a SSH follow up?

Don't slowplay if the board is both two suited and somewhat connected.

I would take it a step further and say that slowplaying any hand at a micro-limit table is usually a bad idea.

However, I think that checking this flop is probably OK if you think you can trap more bets on the turn. In this case, the board is pretty scary for anyone not holding a ten. By telling your opponents that you do not have a ten, you encourage second best hands and weak draws to throw in on the turn because they think that their hands/draws may be good.

That being said, you absolutely have to raise the turn with a bettor and 2 callers. All three are likely drawing dead and you may even get an 8 to 3-bet it.

Theory of Poker.

This isn't slowplaying, this is just bad. Hero missed a HUGE amount of money. You have a strong hand, but there is a flush and straight draw out there. When slowplaying you cannot allow opponents to draw to a better hand.

Oh man.
This is horrendous.
(and you recognized that you misplayed this hand; good for you)

Flop: Don't give people free cards when it's checked to you. Especially when there are 6 people on the flop there can be live draws.

Turn: A raise here is in order. What beats you here? If he is betting because he has an 8, he's behind. If anyone has a T, you may have a better kicker.
