Could I have won this if I played differently?
I'm having problems uploading the hand history, so I appologize in advance.
Paradise 20/40 10 handed. Loose passive(slighty agg) table. 2 LAGs, 1 solid player, the rest are weak or calling stations. Wasnt using pokertracker this night, was playing only on reads and play during the session. I have 77 in MP2. UTG limps, UTG+1 limps, MP1 limps, Hero limps, MP3 raises (LAG), CO calls cold (LAG), Button folds, SB folds, BB calls, UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls, Hero calls. 6 to the flop, 12.5 small bets. Flop - Kc 10d 7h Checks to me, I bet, MP3 raises, CO calls cold, BB folds, UTG calls cold, UTG+1 folds, MP1 Folds, I 3 bet, everyone calls. 4 to the turn, 14.5 small bets Qc UTG checks, I bet, MP3 raises, CO reraises, UTG folds, I call, MP1 calls 3 to the river 16.25 BB Qh I bet, MP1 calls, CO raises, I call MP1 calls. Final pot - 22.25 BB At this point im thinking that MP1 has AJ for broadway, and im going to be looking at KQ with the cutoff for a bigger boat. I was shown by the CO: Q 10 off for 10's full of queens. Would anyone have played this differently? I know the preflop call was a little loose, but the table was weak and I was dominating it for quite a while before this. All comments appreciated. |

Re: Could I have won this if I played differently?
Preflop is fine. You played it well. Did everything you could to win the pot. If CO is gonna call 2 cold preflop and on that flop with that hand, he's certainly not going anywhere on the turn. Tough one.

No. And there's nothing loose about the pre-flop call. Folding pre-flop would be extremely stupid. Cap the turn since CO is a LAG.

PF call is NOT loose... you cannot stop CO from being horrible and getting lucky...

Re: Could I have won this if I played differently?
Cut-off cold called two pre-flop with Q-To and then cold-called two on the flop. He's going to the river, unless you have a loaded rifle pointed at him, and even then he's 50-50. Nothing you can do about the river card.
Pre-flop, this strikes me as precisely the kind of game in which to play all pocket pairs. FWIW, I play the hand exactly as you did. |
