Rule of 12.5
Ive seen quite a few posts lately reguarding when to walk away from the table. Now, obviously it depends on the player. Is he winning or losing. How emotionally involved is he in the game( is he tilting). How do the other players view his image. All of these things factor into the decision of stay or split. But if you are an otherwise solid player, but are prone to tilt I offer this chart and the rule of 12.5.
The rule of 12.5 states you should lose no more than 12.5 big bets on any givin session. When you lose this amount, you have reached your bb loss limit(12.5xbb lose=bb loss limit)and should should walk away. This rule also suggests that you use the standard bankrole requirements(300xbb) for your repected limit. thus: LIMIT / BANK ROLE REQ. / BB LOSS LIMIT 1/2 / $600.00 / $25.00 2/4 / $1200.00 / $50.00 3/6 / $1800.00 / $75.00 5/10 / $3000.00 / $125.00 10/20 / $6000.00 / $250.00 15/30 / $9000.00 / $375.00 So if your in a 15/30 and have a bad run of cards or take a few bad beats in excess of 375.00 its time to leave. Tommorrow is another day. I agree that this is a rather conservative approach to br management, but its better than dumping your entire role in one day. Once again I have made this chart for tilt prone/ otherwise solid players who dont want to lose thier roles because of a couple bad sessions. All those emotional rocks/ never on tilt players need not apply. Follow this chart my tilt fearing friends and you will never go broke again!!! |

5/10 / $3000.00 / $125.00 [/ QUOTE ] Huh? I can hit this before I even get seriously involved in a pot. |

Re: Rule of 12.5
I've heard 30 BB before. 12.5 is just way too low. One bad hand where AA gets cracked could easily be 2/3 of that. Add in a missed flush draw and your done.
I tend to drop a table or two if I hit -30BB so I can make sure I'm focusing on each move. I might also drop down a level for a 100-200 hands to get the feel of things again at a level that's not as risky. |

Re: Rule of 12.5
The chart above is for single table play. For muti table play x the bb loss limit by the # of tables. Thus 4 tables at 2/4 requires a $200 bb loss limit not $50.

I've come back from being down > 25bb and finished with a winning session many times. |

Re: Rule of 12.5
I'm sorry, but your "rule" is bad. Abandon your rule.

Re: Rule of 12.5
The 12.5 number seems completely arbitrary. Did you just pick a number randomly?
