for the sheer purpose of making it public record: 1)make it to the gym 2 hours a day 4 days a week [/ QUOTE ] You don't need to go for two hours. 40 minute is more than enough. Check out this link. It changed the way I look at work outs. http://www.ast-ss.com/max-ot/max-ot_intro.asp |

I spend ~45 minutes: 15 minutes weights on one body part (allowing for 4 exercises, grouped into two supersets) and a half-hour of good, fat-burning-zone cardio. Life is beautiful. |

Re: December goals post
I'm glad this turned into an excercise thread and don't feel bad about hijacking it all (seriously). Sometimes I think 2+2 should have a "so you used to be athletic until you found poker and now you're a fat schlub and you should get back in shape" forum.
Ignignokt, what do you do for cardio? Right now I just run. If I run 4-5 nights a week, I'm concerned it'll beat up my joints and back too much. |

Re: December goals post
Let's see...
* Online: move the hell up to 3/6 6-max (thanks to the 15 BB Challenge I'm now way over-rolled for even that, and I've been consistently winning at 2/4). * Live: start playing live at least once a week. WA's smoking ban goes into effect on Dec. 8, and I'll be happy to demonstrate to the local cardrooms that that can be a good thing. Plus the roll can handle it. * Finish re-re-re-reading SSHE and move on to HEPFAP. * Start playing enough tourneys/SNGs to not get overly rusty at NL. * Enjoy my new job. (I've got my own damn office even, from where I'm posting this now!) * Last but not least: as always, work hard not to suck at poker. |

[/ QUOTE ] I do pretty much every piece of equipment they have at the gym: the "sit back and watch TV" bike, elliptical, stairs, rower, and run/walk intervals on the treadmill. I get insanely bored doing just one thing, so I'll do two or three in one session. If you're into low-impact, elliptical is amazingly good at keeping the heart rate up. I also blade when it's nice out (I live near a beach with a nice path). |

Re: December goals post
Bladers are my mortal enemy (biker), but thanks for the tips. Maybe I'll start taking advantage of my work's free gym a couple nights a week and run outside another 2 or 3.
