Default When Your BB Hits and Then Bites

Midway through the second hour of the PS $11 rebuy MTT last night, blinds at 100/200 (may have been 200/400, it's not relavent in any event) and I am looking at the less-than-exciting 92o is the BB, with T6000ish.

Several limpers, including Button, who has T3000ish.

Flop is something, something, 2.

I'm still not interested, and the table checks along with me.

Turn 9.

Well now! I bet 600, and all fold to the Button, who calls.

River K. No flushes or straights possible, unpaired board, no Ace...I like my 2 pair and go fishing. T600 bet, and button goes all-in. I happily call, expecting to see something on the order of KJ, but no--he shows pocket nines for the set.

Fair enough, I was behind every step of the way. But my question is, does anyone not play this two pair? Does anyone see anything here that would have slowed them down or gotten them off this hand? I had been at this table for about one and a half orbits, and had seen nothing of signifigance from this player.
