Defend This Hand vs. Possible Steal Raise? ($20/40, $75/150)

My friend was playing in a 7-handed $20/$40 Stud game with a $4 maximum rake, and a tight player raised with an Ace after 4 players folded. My friend had been the bring-in and held 10,6,2 all clubs. Only one club out. My friend called.

1. Would you have called here?

2. What if the player was also aggressive and not just tight?

3. What if the player wasn't tight at all but was very aggressive?

4. What if the game was $75-$150?

Two questions:

1. What are the ante and bring-in amounts? I don't remember the structure for 20/40 and the size of the pot and the cost to call both obviously effect the decision.

2. Were there any other relevent cards showing? i.e. tens sixes, twos and Aces. Because if another Ace was showing, and all the your pair cards were live this would be an easier call then vice versa.

In $20/40 it is $3 ante, $5 bring-in. In $75/$150 it is $15 ante, $25 bring-in.

No particularly significant dead cards; in other words, the Ace apeared to be live and my friend's pair cards were almost all completely live with one club out.

I would've folded your friend's hand in the 20/40 game, but might not have in the 75/150 game because of the better odds your getting for your call.

Against the tight/aggresive player or the very aggresive player I would have defended against the possible ante steal in both 20/40 and 75/150 games.

I'm not saying I'm right, but I'd play. At this level, I think that even a tight player is going to raise a fair amount of the time with less-than-premium hands.

I don't think it's terrible to call, it's probably close between calling and folding, but I would fold. If I had a card higher than the raiser's upcard in the hole, that's a different story, then I'd probably call. Two higher cards, absolutely. But there's a good chance he's got a pair of aces here, tho it's not absolutely certain. Still, I don't like playiing a three flush heads up unless it has potential beyond just a flush, which T 6 2 really doesn't. If the raiser was purely aggressive and not tight, I'd be slightly more inclined to call, mostly because he'd probably pay off more than the tight player if I did make the flush. A tight player would likely bail as soon as you showed strength with three clubs up, which reduces your implied odds on your hand. I don't know what the exact structure of the 75-150 game is compared to the 20-40, but I doubt it would make a HUGE difference here. With the internet, the game structures vary somewhat nowadays.

I would reraise with the small 3-flush, against an Ace-up openraiser who's contending against one player who hasn't acted and a bring-in. Usually most people with an Ace up in this spot raise almost 100% of the time.

If he has garbage, as he usually will, there's a good chance he'll fold. If he calls the reraise I'd play aggressively until I'm conviced he actually has something.

I´m also siding with polarbear here: I´d at least call because the A is in a clear steal position.

1) I'd probably think of raising. I'm not giving a tightie immediate credit for A's let alone
a hand when he opens the pot in a late position. I wouldn't fold even
if he was so tight that I knew he had some sort of hand.

2) Even aggressive and tight I'm not laying down. Maybe the agressive player will be more likely to 3 bet (even wo a hand)
so I might just call though I think its worth raising some of the time.

3)Again I don't think im going to fold.

4)In 75/150 you will be doing alot of raising and reraising, and you can't just do this w/big pairs
not a bad time to do it here.

i would at least call in here every situation you describe. if he really is tight i would consider reraising.
