Default Crazy bets by pro gamblers

I have heard of these bets made by and amongst pro gamblers like, 1. paying Howard Lederer, who is a vegan $10K to eat a cheeseburger. 2. betting that John Hennigan couldn't live a month in Des Moines, Iowa.
I don't get it, these seem to me easy ways to make money, I doubt it was that hard for Lederer even after years of being a vegan to eat a cheeseburger for TEN GRAND. Is it really worth ten grand to the people that made the bet to have hennigan live in Iowa for a month?
Thoughts?

For 10 grand, I'd live in downtown Baghdad for a month wearing I [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] GW Bush t-shirts everyday.

The best part is that Hennigan didn't make the month. He quit and paid up.

The other person paid him to cancel the bet.

Brian Zembic, the man who cashed in on a $100,000 dare by getting breast implants for a year, made a bet with Gus Hansen.

“I bet poker champ Gus Hansen $10K he couldn’t beat the marathon record over 26 days. He had to run 16 100-meter dashes a day, at like, 16 seconds each. Gus is an athlete, but after a day he decided it was too hard and settled for $3K.”

This is a very -ev wager. You would be dead long before your month was up.

I'd love to take some of these prop bets especially for the prices at which they were made.
