Default Need mp3 player suggestions

Requrirements

Small (reg ipod size or smaller)
At least 5-6 hours of battery life
Record from *EXTERNAL UNPOWERED MIC*
Able to record at least 4-5 hours of speech

An iRiver is currently filling most of these needs, but the thing is a huge brick. I want something smaller. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I know there have been numerous mp3 player threads here, but i don't think a single one has dealt with unpowered external mics...

This one kicks ass and blows the Ipods out of the water. Supports FLAC yay!!!! and does recordings. Get the X5l version as it has way longer battery life. Mac compatible.
The M5 looks to be just as good.

Ok - don't know about the external unpowered mic thing. hmmm
You may have to email them on that one. That's getting awfully picky now ain't it? You just can't have everything in this world. It still beats thepants off the Ipod and CNET reviewers agree.

I think I've decided on the iRiver ifp-899. It is basically the only flash player with an internal preamp for external mics.

The X5 got me looking at the iAudio 5 and the U2 which were both good, but which lacked external mic support. A comparison of the U2 and ifp-899 revealed the benefits of the iRiver.... ordered a 1gig from newegg for $159.
