Hero checks, Button bets t425 (All-In), Hero folds.

Final Pot: t870

I don't like the way I played this, but maybe that's b/c it didn't work, so I'm interested in what should have been done differently and why.

Thank you

You really needed to bet the flop and represent an over pair.

I don't like your line either. Maybe you should bet out the flop for 50-75 and fold to a raise. Without a read, I'd check-fold the turn if he calls my flop bet. I know this is weak, but you're out of position and early in the tournament--not a good time to get aggressive for a tiny pot. Position really rules in spots like this one.

I would have done that if I was last to act, but I don't usually bet a flop I missed with a player to act behind me. At the $22's people will call a flop like that not even thinking about an overpair.

Since I raised pf, I was thinking that I could represent holding a queen

That's what I was missing. It's just not the right time to get aggressive for that pot.

Thanks

Right. I was thinking about this hand a little more. If you follow my line on the flop, get called, and the turn is an uncoordinated ten or lower you can take another pot-sized shot, but fold to a reraise. Many villians at this level will chase an AT+, KT+, or QJ for a flop bet but let it go on the turn. It's all about giving them an easy way to fold and save face.

Also, because you built a pot there's a better reason for trying for it on the turn.

That's a much better line. I shall use it in the future.
