Default QQ - flopped top set vs. what appears to be a calling station

5/10 NL - 9 handed

My read is that Villain is a calling station but he may also be tricky -
I saw him call two big bets on flop and turn with 66 on board of 3h 5h Js 4d

Maybe he called the flop because he thought his 66 was good or because he planned on taking the pot away if the flush hit. He the called a big turn bet with an OESD when he had to know his 66 was no good. He rivered a 2 and busted the another guy with QQ.

Villian has $1K and I have him covered.

I raise UTG+1 with QQ to $50 - villain cold calls.

2 to the flop ($115)

3c 2s Qd

I lead for $80, villain calls.

Turn ($275)

5d

I bet $190, villain surprisingly calls.

Now here I am not sure what to put him on. A lower set is possible but why no raise yet? AQ, or KQ seems likely. Maybe even a strangely played AA. 44 could be possible as the OESD would be there. Maybe even something wacky like Ad3d.

River ($655)

Kh

Does anybody check here to induce a bluff?

Villian has to be concerned with QQ or KK given the action so far.

If you are betting, how much are you betting?

depends on how much he called previously on the turn. I may even bet more on the turn as calling stations with obviously call more on the draw and they most likely won't put any plays on you if you check. So you can only bet on the river and hope for a call, hell maybe even push. Checking is by far the worst option against this player cause if he had the case Q the K will scare him and he won't bet. He may not even value bet a K but he'll certainly call within all that range

Why didn't you pot the flop and turn?

My "standard" bet is 2/3 - 3/4 pot.

I rarely bet full pot - rare exception being when I have a strong hand on a draw heavy board. Then I pot or sometimes overbet pot.

But isn't he a calling station? Do you think he'd really pay attention to the difference between 3/4 pot and near-full pot?

I think you're losing value against a calling station like that ..... the river pot will be much bigger, therefore, your river value bet will be all that much bigger.

Eh, maybe you and El D bring up good points.
My read of him as a "calling station" was only based off of one hand.
Even still if he was the type of guy that liked to put people on AK and call them down with mid PP the river K was certainly a bad card for me.

In the actual hand I bet $390 on the river and villain folded.

I'd bet 350 on end as you played it. I probably bet near pot on turn, so the river bet could be bigger.
