From my skimming of the article, all I got out of it was that operating a place where gambling exists (if you're not the government or sanctioned by the government) is illegal, not the act of online gambling itself.

I see plenty of people online from Canada. I dunno know if its illegal or merely a gray issue like in the US.

Since the government has chosen to look the other way when sports books are being run on reserves here (and I don't mean just for the natives) a couple of big sports books run on a reserve in montreal (SIA)I'm pretty sure you can rest easy about playing poker. Canadian government is looking into legalizing gambling online (don't have link). Won't happen with minority gov. but when the stealing bastards get a majority next time they will pass it.
