Default Any tricks to keeping leather shoe laces tied?

I have the toughest time keeping leather shoe laces from coming untied. Any tricks like soaking them in water that anyone has had luck with?

They are slip on shoes so I only need to get them tied one good time if possible.

Yes. Old people have all learned to do this.

While the double knot seems to be the obvious answer, the problem is that the "double" knot doesn't seem to work as well as you might think. It also looks a bit bulky. Big knot and small bows.

I'd consider a staple if I thought it would work. A touch of super glue has crossed my mind, but I'm sure it would discolor the shoe and probably wouldn't work to well either.

They didn't get to be old by killing themselves on untied shoelaces now, did they.

I'm curious about this too. I have a pair of shoes that takes thick cloth laces, and they're so bulky that they always come untied very quickly. The knot never really properly "sets" or whatever, no matter how tight you tie it with a regular standard bow knot.
