AA vs enormous all-in flop overbet
$2 and 5 NL. Villain in this hand has $585, I have him covered.
I'm holding A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] in the cutoff. Action folded to a decent player in mid position, who makes it $25. I just call, intending to trap. (He's quite likely to fold to a big reraise preflop.) No other callers. Pot ($55) Flop: K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Opponent acts first and immediately moves all-in for $560. This is atypical play for this opponent. I stare at this beautiful flop and... because I put my opponent on... |

Re: AA vs enormous all-in flop overbet
i call.
he could have KK, QQ, TT, JdJx, KQ, AK. you are a favorite against that range of hands. even if you eliminate AK, you are still a favorite. |

Re: AA vs enormous all-in flop overbet
Easy call.
You are not that far behind a set (420 to 580): http://twodimes.net/h/?z=479608 You are not that far behind a low straight (460 to 540): http://twodimes.net/h/?z=479610 You are not that far behind the high straight (417 to 583): http://twodimes.net/h/?z=479613 You are AHEAD(!!) of two pair (583 to 417): http://twodimes.net/h/?z=479123 You are dominating OESF draw plus pair (i.e. Ks Jd or Jd Jx) -- (748 to 252): http://twodimes.net/h/?z=479614 -- or (792 to 208): http://twodimes.net/h/?z=479607 which is what lots of people here (including I) put him on. You are only a big dog to a made flush (318 to 675): http://twodimes.net/h/?z=479618 You are only dominated by a made flush that includes the Jd -- (274 to 726): http://twodimes.net/h/?z=479606 Of course, kiss your money goodbye if he has Jd 9d: http://twodimes.net/h/?z=479623 But that's just more proof that the poker gods hate you. |

Re: AA vs enormous all-in flop overbet
I call, no matter what he has, you are in pretty good shape here, I put him on JJ with a d more times then not, occasionally you will see a TT thats scared of the flop, but you arent in terrible shape against that either. Doesn't really seem like he wants a call so something like AK or KQ is pretty likely.

Re: AA vs enormous all-in flop overbet
Even if you are ahead most of hte time, we are talking about risking $500 to win $50...are you positive you have him beat 90% of the time or what not? Is he a weak player? Are you going to be playing for hours? If so, I might pass up this opportunity especially if going broke will put me on tilt and prevent me from keeping a seat at the table... just another side of thoughts...

Re: AA vs enormous all-in flop overbet
Uhhh, you are calling the $500 to win $500. You'll win his bet if you win the hand!!!

Re: AA vs enormous all-in flop overbet
True. But he put in $500 to win 50...bets like this I think are either bluffs or the nuts, while they are probably more likely bluffs, why risk your entire stack if the opponent is so bad that you could easily take his stack piece by piece when you dictate the action and clearly have the odds in your favor...it was just a side thought...
