Default How Long can you hold your breath?

I just got done reading a very interesting book called "The Einstein Factor". There is a section in the book called the "Oxygen factor". In it they advise their readers to take up underwater swimming to increase blood flow to the brain, and by doing so increase intelligence. It stated that increasing blood flow to your brain will 1.) activate areas of your brain that are usually idle from lack of blood 2.) slow down the constant die-off brain cells. Very interesting book (not just this chapter). Anyway, I think I'm going to try it. I actually practiced holding my breath today and was shocked to see I only got to a minute and a half before I gasped for air. And I'm 22, dont smoke, and am in fairly good condition. This leads me to my question, How long can you hold your breath for?
