Kennedy owes Cabrera a dinner for that bad throw at second.

Pierzynski owes and explanation to White Sox fans for why he just got caught stealing. A.J. stole 0 bases in 2005, 0 in 2004, and just 6 in his career before that.

[/ QUOTE ]
Not AJ's fault. Genius Crede missed a hit-and-run sign.

Great game...I'll still take Byrd, Washburn, Lackey and Santana over the White Sox rotation....

Angels in 6. Sox choke huge in this series.

mlb did kind of [censored] up the schedule by having them play a day after the ALCS, you have to admit.

[/ QUOTE ]
The game was already scheduled, and the rest was shortened due to a rainout. It wasn't "scheduled" to be the day after the ALCS. There was a scheduled day off that was eliminated due to the rainout. Hey, if you want your $25 million dollar contracts, you've got to deal with the TV boys. Period. Can't have your cake and eat it too.

[/ QUOTE ]

While that's true, I still think MLB screwed up with their LCS schedule. The NL should have started first. That series should have started (and likely ended) earlier since the AL team has home field advantage in the World Series.

Fine, I'm still confident. 1-run game that we beat ourselves in.

Actually...Ozzie said in the Postgame press conference that AJ thought the Hit and Run was on, but no one ever gave the sign.
FWIW, I was at the game and EVERYONE I sat near thought Jose should have thrown the ball home in the 3rd...I tried to point out that, guys theres 1. We turn 2 we're out of the inning. It should have been, but the Gooch threw the ball away.

Where were all the Angels and White Sox fans?

[/ QUOTE ]

White Sox fan here. Not much to say. They played a bad game. Lots of mistakes. Poor fielding caused at least one run. Poor baserunning and poor execution cost at least another run.

Contreras pitched great. Even the HR was a pretty good pitch. Sox game is all about executing and avoiding mistakes. Last night they did neither. In spite of playing about as bad as they could they still almost won. I expect the rotation will step up as it is our big advantage right now over LAA. The series isn't over by a longshot and should be closely contested all the way.

It has to be some what sickening for you Redsox fans to watch Cabrera do his thing. That guy can play.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm surprisingly okay with the Red Sox season. The 2004 World Series win has created a shield which protects me, as a Red Sox fan, from dissapointment. I expect this shield to last many, many years. The shield has been reinforced by the Yankees loss.

I suggest others not try to introduce Yankees/Red Sox topics into the ALCS thread.

Someone's been reading too much 'Sports Guy' Bill Simmons

[/ QUOTE ]

Haven't read him at all.

[/ QUOTE ]

oh.

he says this thing where when your team wins a championship, that team can't gripe for 5 years. unfortunately, he still gripes.

[/ QUOTE ]

i can gripe, but what is there to gripe about? 95 wins, tied for first place in a season where your best starter and best reliever sucked/injured.

no bad trades were made, a rising star in papelbon was found etc...

the only gripe one could have is the renteria signing, which i still think was the right move.

people put way too much emphasis on the playoffs when judging an orginization.

anyways, back to ana/cws discussion. that trio should be lined and and have thier mouths ducttaped.

I am just not interested in this series. I watched some of the game yesterday, but IMO Houston-STL is where its at.

I hate the bunt in the 9th inning by Guillen. There is no way the math works out. Bunting in the tie game is a fine move there. Bunting down by a run sucks.
