Stinking Donk Re-raise from the button!
Hand converter site is down, so you get the sloppy old hand history. Villain always min raises when he raises, so it seems, and then bets the flop pretty large. He hasn't shown down any hands, so I have no idea what this could mean. Tell me if I should flop preflop to this or on the flop or what. I tried to set up a blocking bet on the turn, but he wasn't going for it. The thing about these minraises is that they invite weaker hands into the pot, but when I look at the pot odds with QJo I think Harrington would say to call.

Re: Stinking Donk Re-raise from the button!
I think the flop is where you got into trouble with this hand. It's a weak holding, and you want to know where you stand as cheap as possible. By checking and then calling the button's bet, you have no clue whether he has a better kicker or is just trying to steal the pot. The pot also increases in size, so it's difficult to make a move other than all-in. I would have led out on the flop.
On the turn, it's very hard to know. I would fold and give myself hell for misplaying the flop. |

Yeah, that's what I did. Do you fold this preflop? I just can't see laying it down, but then these types of flops screw me. What is a good bet size to lead out on the flop? 125 like villain did? Muck it if he raises?

Keep it small, but large enough that it's believable (a bet of 100 would look too weak, I think). You'll have to fold to a reraise, which unfortunately means that the villian can steal it from you if he's working on a draw. Let's say you bet 125, and he calls. The pot is now 445. You want to keep the pot small, but also make the villian pay if he is working on a draw. So bet out something like 175, maybe 200. |

Re: Stinking Donk Re-raise from the button!
You still got the information you needed by check calling and leading the turn. Your rarely ahead here on the turn and are drawing to 3-5 outs, Fold.

I smell Aces or Kings. I'm not usually one to get paranoid, but the min raise PF is the biggest tell of a high pocket pair (and usually not AK) I know of. Him min raising you on the turn also screams he knows he has you beat. It's dumb, but to me it usually means he has a monster. He wants you to call/raise him. I'd have checked/called this down if villians betting had been reasonable. |

Re: Stinking Donk Re-raise from the button!
Dave,
It's a $22 on Party. He was on the button. And he was the first one in the pot with a raise, so I guess his hand could be huge. I figured two pair on the turn, but aces or kings could be possible. |

[/ QUOTE ] I really need to keep that in mind. I missed that small bet tell last night and crashed in glorious fashion late in a tourney after leading in chips for a long time.
