Given your used to warm temperatures living in Arizona. I don't think anywhere in Canada should be an option. Hell has officially frozen over here.

You can head to Mexico - easy from here in Phoenix. Rocky Point (Puerto Penasco) is about 5 hours away - pretty area, decent beaches - no crowds, so surfing. If you like shirmp dishes, you'll love it. If you want lobster, forget it - there isn't any. If you want bikini's in the surf - not likely here either. In fact, why the hell do I go there?

On the other hand, you can get to San Diego in five hours too -

Or you can make Laughlin in less than four hours, stay at the Edgewater or Flamingo for $9.99 a night (well, may $19 if you don't get lucky) and play $3/$6 or $4/$8 with a bunch of really bad players and drink Corona's for free.......(actually, they sometimes get a good $10/$20 game going).

The Edgewater often sends me a 3-day, 2-night special that is $0. In fact, it comes with $25 in free slot play and two buffets. Just get a club one card down there. Check online with either of these two hotels and you'll probably see a good deal, after you sign up, you get a lot of freebies.

As for bad poker games - yeah, there are a lot of older players, but the games can be decent. Friday night and Saturday afternoon were the best that I remember. It's not a great place to play, just a really really cheap place. And, if you get bored, head towards Searchlight and then to Vegas - it's 100 miles.

Spent 4th of July weekend playing at Harrah's in Laughlin. I think I saw 6 hands all weekend were fewer than 6 people went to the flop.
