Default small field rebuy/add-on strategy

I'm used to large field $10-$30 rebuys where anytime I can rebuy/add-on I do it. Recently I've been playing smaller sites with smaller tournies (I love the decreased variance!), and wonder if this is still optimal strategy. For example:

30 players in a $30 rebuy, 1500 starting chips. I rebuy right away to have 3000 chips (I think this is wise but only about 20% of the players do this) and play solid poker but try to see some cheap flops and double up, and not fearing coin flip situations. I do well and have 8000 chips without making any further rebuys. There were about 32 total rebuys and 23 players left, so average stack is around 4000. Add-on is 2000 chips and a double add-on of 4000 chips is offered. With 23 players left there is typically 20-25 total add-ons taken, approximate payouts will be 1-$950 2-$550 3-$360 4-$270 5-$180. I think I play better than most of the players in the field. What do you do?

Opinions on rebuy/add-on strategy for this size field?
