Re: wierd blind battle
This is a weird line by villian because it is inconsistent. If he's one to make moves, why would he wait 'till the flop and why wouldn't he give me credit for an Ace? If he has an Ace, why wouldn't he raise pre-flop?
He is obviously an illogical opponent, unless he had a monster like AK. The pot is so small that I have a hard time heeding the advice to get to the SD (one way or another). Basically I have to win 1/3 of the time. Since I'll rarely improve to the best hand, I pretty much have to be ahead almost half the time. This may be a hand where only experience can guide you. Because, like I said before, my opponent is only being logical if he has a monster. Otherwise he's a dufus who may or may not have a hand. |

Re: wierd blind battle
You can easily be ahead here, I don't think the villain has an A either - but I would consider how cheaply I can get to showdown. If we 3-bet and check behind on the turn, we can fold to a fourth diamond on the river at the cost of 1BB. If we take the call the CR and raise the turn line we give up fold equity on the turn, but we'll always spend 2.5BB regardless. Since the pot is small, I'd prefer the former.
