Bob Seger -- Addicted Gambler!
This weekend, I rediscovered one of my favourite artists with my daughter. We had Bob Seger's greatest hits in the disc changer and we were rocking. As I haven't listen to this for about ten years, the lyrics had new meaning and I possibily uncovered Bob's other passion. Here's what I found in chronological order.
Ramblin Gamblin Man -- 1969 -- it's in his soul! Beautiful Loser 1975 -- early experiences! Still the Same 1978 -- I have to inlcude the lyrics [ QUOTE ] You always won, everytime you placed a bet You're still damn good, no one's gotten to you yet Everytime they were sure they had you caught You were quicker than they thought You'd just turn your back and walk You always said, the cards would never do you wrong The trick you said was never piay the game too long A gambler's share, the only risk that you would take The only loss you could forsake The only bluff you couldn't fake And you're still the same I caught up with you yesterday Moving game to game No one standing in your way Turning on the charm Long enough to get you by You're still the same You still aim high There you stood, everybody watched you play I just turned and walked away I had nothing left to say 'Cause you're still the same You're still the same Moving game to game Some thlngs never change You're still the same [/ QUOTE ] Like a Rock 1986 -- finally retires in Vegas (lol) The Fire Inside 1991 Many many more gambling references all throughout his music. Makes me wonder if he and Ciaffone ran into each other in pool hall in Detroit -- in Mainstreet he talks about looking into a pool hall watching the hustlers and the losers. Of course Ciaffone would be the hustler. Have fun! Magi |

Fire Lake -
"Who's gonna play those eights and aces Who's gonna make that first mistake Who's gonna take that longshot gamble And head out to Fire Lake." |
