Default Push with 44?

UB $20+2 6-seat multi. 140 began. Down to 21. 12 pay.

I'm in 17th place with about 6500.

Blinds 200/400 + 25 antes.

New guy sits down with about 13000 and minriases after one fold.

I'm in the SB with 44 and push.

Calling seemed clearly wrong due to my bad position and not-so-great hand. A reraise would have trimmed my stack significantly. It seemed push or fold. Should I have folded?

I'll push here. You increase your stack by 25% if he folds and it seems like you need to double up sometime. If he turns out to have AA, oh well, but a miniraise from an unknown player could mean a lot of things.
