Valued at 4.6 billion Pounds, would make it #63 in the list of British companies.
They are saying the risks are that there is a lot of competition and that it's believed to be illegal in America to play there. Pointing out that the original dotcom boom left many people broke. Basically a really poor article, expected more from the BBC. Lori |

Re: Party poker going to be on news at 6
I found two articles regarding the Party Gaming IPO, one in Friday's 6/24/05 Business Week magazine, and today's Wall Street Journal. I want to buy the stock...

I want to buy the stock... [/ QUOTE ] I really think thats a mistake. Many people have said that this company is coming out overvalued and inflated. Add to that the fact that online poker is very likely near or at its current peak, and I doubt that this is a good investment. |

Re: Party poker going to be on news at 6
More to the point....it's kind of tough to get in on IPO's isn't it?
At least that's what my Dad tells me (he's the one who knows a ton about stocks...I know almost nothing). For him, this would be another one of those situations that looks potentially promising but has a lot of risk involved. Afterall, we really don't know which way online-poker is headed (he's a fairly conservative investor and just doesn't like taking too many chances). In the Party IPO articles I've sent to him I have added my own thoughts on the general incompetence of the people at party and some of their 'bugs' and customer-support issues. Regardless of their profits so far...I have a hard time believing in a company that is so unwilling to fix such obvious problems as the ones they have. I truly believe that investing an extra $2-million or so on their C/S could easily make that back for them very quickly. |

Re: Party poker going to be on news at 6
on-line gambling is profitable (the business week article shows how their revenue and income have grown significantly each year) The online gambling demand is not going away... unless the laws change and are enforced... this is the big risk... but putting a small percentage (5% or less) of your overall portfolio into a single stock, no matter how risky is ok... it is diversification!

Will demand for online-poker increase or even remain the same?
Is the stock over-valued to begin with? I think these are a couple of questions that would steer me away from this stock. |
