Default Moderator - Rules in BBV = BAD

Seriously, don't lock posts on your first day of
being mod without any precedent or warning.

Might as well have a profanity forum and then
censor it.

Hi,

One reason your thread is locked is because it has nothing to do with "Poker Beats, Brags, and Variance." Also, starting a thread just to post a short PM that is merely a criticism of the way you conduct yourself on the forums probably isn't the kind of content most moderators are going to want in any forum on 2+2.

I thought the reasons for the lock were fairly obvious, but in the future explanations will always be given if I lock posts in that forum.

Note: Friday was my first day as mod of BBV.

I'd like to see that instituted as 2+2 policy. Some mods do it and I think it's a big help in clearing unclear air. I usually don't have a quarrel with a mod's reasoning when it's stated.

It was "obvious" why you locked my post.

It was not "obvious" why other PM-type posts were
not locked (since you started Friday).

If we are cleaning up the forums...fine, but to pick a post
that was ENTIRELY about the BBV forum itself from a poster
who has been here for years is just lame.

There is a difference between moderating and censoring.

I hope you made quite the example of me and I can't wait
to see how much cleaner the forum is now...

Why are you red?

No one is red but Mat, Chuck and the authors. You wouldn't be red unless you had some job that a greenie could not do.

So tell us.

Mat asked me if I would consider helping him out on a trial basis, and I said yes. Basically the thinking is that issues will get looked into in a more timely manner with another person receiving notifications, requests, etc.

I still don't really understand.

Don't all green moderators get to see when someone hits the "notify moderator" button?

PM requests can be sent to you whether you are green or red.

I still don't understand the need to reclassify you as red unless there are some other special tools you haven't told us about that you now have access to.

If this is about some secret special features, don't feel you have to spill the beans. We all love that you guys have a forum to talk behind our backs as it is.

cola just let the bad beats forum do whatever it wants, it could definitely turn into the funniest forum on 2p2, just let it ride.

Hey Voltron,

For the most part, I really intend to do as little moderation in there as possible. Virtually everything that gets looked at will be something I've received a notification about. I completely understand that BBV is the forum for venting, and I have no desire to ruin the point of it.

The green moderators are limited in their ability to do things, especially outside of their own forums. I needed someone to have the extra admin powers, I have, to work across every forum, to see name change requests, answer emails that the moderators don't see, and to assist the other moderators in doing things like matching ip addresses of a suspected troll.

If anyone wants to know, why Cola? Of all the moderators I've dealt with routinely, he's been the one least likely to misunderstand me.

That, I think, is clear. I know Cola will understand
