I don't understand why a flop bet "protects" my hand. Why put money in when either WA/WB?

Morrek,

Where can I win more money in the hand? Please explain a strategy that would work over the long term, not in the specific hand.

Cheers,
Waxie

(not trying to be snarky. what do you mean?)

well you have to win the hand before you can win money from the hand.
WA/WB is incorrect. it is certainly possible that you are WAY behind, but there are many hands that have lots of outs against you.

you just gave a free card to your opponent which could be very helpful if he has a king or an ace in his hand (certainly possible after a limp\call)
he also might be more inclined to make heavy bets\bluff which will mkae it harder for you to play your hand.

plus, some people will call the flop with overs. you are making money when they do this.
bet the flop
