You cap the turn because MP is still drawing. You cap the river because you want to win more money.

To bad he had 45d

eh...you have top set and refuse to give sb 4d5d for the flopped double gutter str8 and flush draw - I am assuming thats what he had if your posting it.

Almost as bad as someone flopping two pair with 8s5s.

Because 33 and 77 are more likely than 54.

thanks guys. just a sanity check. 33 and 77 or definitely more likely, although getting less likely by the 3rd bet on the river...

yeah 86

Surprised he didn't even have the floosh draw. Oh well - I think it is safe to say we all lose just as much on that hand.

Really? There are 16 different 54 combinations and only 6 different 33/77 combinations (total). The 54 gets a very cheap ride in the SB because our hero tried to get fancy preflop (ooops, am I not supposed to say this?) So your only rationale for saying that 33/77 is more likely than 54 is that the flop action looks more like the former than the latter. Maybe, but it all depends on how aggressive SB is.

not a big deal but i think 45o is much more likely by the 3rd river bet. I would not cap the river, really I don't think I would cap the turn but that is just me.
