This is rather disturbing..

" This is a letter to you straight from a former Party Poker employee that we've been in contact with (we used to work with Party Poker to some degree)

Dear Party Poker client,

I worked in the Security Department at Party Poker. I recently quit for the following reasons:

It became part of our job to look at Party Poker clients' computers and search for third party software programs. We did this by inspecting what was on the harddrive and taking screenshots of what the client had open while they were playing poker on Party Poker. I really didn't have a problem with this except...

Party Poker had no controls over the employees that were conducting these searches. None of the employees were screened for security jobs, they had no special clearances or background checks. Most made less in a day than the average American makes in an hour.

A large number of my fellow employees joked about things they found on Party Poker clients' computers. Things such as letters to loved ones, pornography, and other personal information. It became a big joke to see who could find the next funny thing. Even worse, there were whispers of personal financial information found on harddrives of people's computers. What was done with this information, I cannot say, as I quit at this time because of this behavior.

Party Poker itself is not trying to steal your information, however, they have little to no control over the people they hire and give complete access to your personal information.

Best Regards,

Mike (Real name withheld for fear of prosecution) "

I call bullshit. I've received many emails from Party employees, and not one has been anywhere near this clear and coherent.

I heard from a very very reliable source (A lurker here) that he had come into information about this too. Not so much the personal info and such, but about party taking screen shots of desktops.

Don't want to add fuel to the fire, but I do believe that party takes actions they should not take. I am happy that they want to rid the games of third party software that is harmful, but there is a line. I think they have crossed the line.

I am not very computer savvy, but it is my understanding that everything listed IS possible...Not saying probable..

Can anyone confirm?

I dont doubt the letter is a farse given the nature of the company involved, but I do believe there is some truth behind it.

I don't believe it. Why would Party take screenshots? Looking at what programs you have running while Party is running -- yes. They have clearly said they do this and that is how they detect programs they have banned. Searching hard drives and taking screenshots...why would they? I just don't see what they gain over looking at running programs. They don't ban you for owning a piece of software, only for using while you're playing. I doubt that this capability is built into their software, though it is possible.

It's common knowledge, afterall, you DID sign the T+C that allows them to do it.
