Default The \"See? I\'m not lame!\" hand reveal

I've noticed a tendency among some players to show off their second best hand if it was pretty good (trips or better) as though they must justify their play.

I find it amusing and usually watch that person for signs they're tilting over their "bad beat." A lot of the time you can see that they were actually behind all the way.

Anyone else noticed this?

These same players will not push all-in with K7o in the right spot (short table, shortstacked, deep in the event, in position, first in, for example) because they fear losing face if they have to show it down.

I found myself doing the second example the other day deep in a tournament. I tried to steal w/63s, not noticing the microstack behind me. I was getting 7:1. I folded like an 8yr old.

I'm in no way an expert, but I've noticed that people that do what the OP describes tend to be ego players. They don't play for money, they play for respect and pride. They do pay off with second (and third out of three) best, they rarely raise the river unless it's a lock. They fall in love with unimproved AA-KK.
