Default Don\'t Call, Reraise! Do you agree with this article?

Card Player Article on Short Handed Play

I read the article above and I think it has merit. I have not played enough hands at 6 max to say so for sure.

My first question is if your objective is to call less and re-raise more, does that mean that you end up playing a tighter range of hands?

Do you get a decent percentage of folds on the flop if you have reraised in position preflop, it's checked to you on the flop, and you fire out a bet? In my limited experience it seems that most players will peel one off on the flop and check to you again on the turn. Does anyone disagree?

A while ago, I posted a link to this thread, and got a few responses essentially stating that the advice was pretty obvious. If you search for "biggest mistake in short-handed play" (or something like that), you'll find the thread.

I certainly disagree with the author's notion that most players will fold the flop for a single bet. But, cold-calling raises shorthanded is absolutely terrible. Those people that are doing it more than once every 1000 hands or so have at least one serious leak.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately your original post did not generate any useful feedback.

Does anyone else want to contribute?

If you reraise preflop and it's checked to you on the flop, do you bet

a. every time?
b. depends on board texture?
c. most of the time, trying to be random?

I would prefer answers relevant to levels up to $3-$6

What he's saying is that after you 3-bet pf in position, many (or most) players will fold to a continuation bet on the flop, when they don't get a piece of the flop. I agree with this, though of course it is a gross generalization.

A vast majority of the time I'd be making a continuation bet on the flop.

It would be incredibly rare for me not to make a continuation bet on the flop after reraising preflop. This is the most likely time by far that you can get the villains to fold to a flop bet.

I would say this is pretty close to "every time" heads up. Against more players you have to consider the board texture and what sort of players you are facing. I wouldn't bother trying to be random.
