Good point -- Jacob Perez never mentioned position. So I guess if you follow his arguments you should never raise preflop, especially if there's more than a few people in (because with what hands would you be a "majority favorite"?).

All I think about with hands like TT+, KQs+ and ATs+ from the blinds is how much money I'm gonna jack from all the pussies who limped with lame ass hands. Drink some testosterone and hit the raise button. Then go have anal.

I agree 100% with your logic here. Surfing the web looking for limit strategy posts (specifically SH) I came accross the article and couldn't believe what I was reading. It just seemed like bad advice to me...

Yeah he took S&M out of context and tried to apply it to LL games. These people don't play well. They are not limping with QJs and 66. They are limping with trash that misses flops or hits them in a weak way. You have to make them pay now.

BTW HEPFAP is really "Hold 'Em Poker Against Advanced Players"

Mike Caro has some thoughts on this as well. I tried to find his article but couldn't. At any rate he talks about being out of position, and the fact you are already in for one bet.

What he doesn't address is all the cheese that shows up and the fact that with proper hand selection, your giving up to much by not raising.

Premium hands come to infrequently not to be raising them. It's a bad habit you don't want to talk yourself into doing.

It's been driving me crazy - but I found it. Mike Caro Poker Tip

With all but the most powerful of hands, you always can justify just calling, rather than raising, when you're in a blind position. Remember that you will be in poor position throughout future rounds of betting (except if you're the big blind against only the small blind). This gives you less of an advantage than it may seem, and makes a raise questionable.

Also, when you're in a blind, it costs you less voluntary money to call than it costs other players. This means you're often getting a good deal to call, based on pot odds (the amount in the pot versus the amount it costs to call). But when you raise, the proportion of the money you've already blinded becomes less significant, and your pot odds diminish. It's hard to justify reducing pot odds with marginally strong hands when you'll have poor position on future betting rounds

Caro may be the master of tells but he doesn't understand pot odds. When you choose to raise, pot odds are not a consideration, equity is. Specifically:

This means absolutely nothing. It may as well be written in a foreign language because it is meaningless.
