This isn't the reason we would want to check.

I'm only advocating checking if we've seen villain repeatedly check call with top pair. I'm talking like 5 or more times without ever seeing him showdown less. Obviously this is rare, but the read given in the initial post makes it seem like it may be the case.

Against most opponents, this is an easy value bet.

Against most opponents, a kitten was killed for missing a value bet here. Now, if you have never seen this guy show down anything less than top pair (and after a fairly respectable number of hands), then you have a case for checking behind.

Yeah, I got hit with a -120 BB session the other night, but I've made about half of it back since. Still in the green.
