Default 100 Great Films

i'm undertaking a project to watch all 100 of the films on Time's 100 Great Films list, even the ones i've already seen, because i'm tired of not being able to tell someone why some above-average film isn't on the list, and because i thought it might be cool.

should anyone care, i'm doing a short writeup on each film on my blog and i'm talking to some online journal about writing some articles about it for them. so far i've watched 2.

Have fun. I was doing this same thing with the AFI top-100 list for awhile but then gave up on it. It got to the point where most of the movies I hadn't seen I really wasn't too interested in.

That list is here.

thought about the AFI list, but since they're all American, it isn't that great of a list. this seems a lot more inclusive, which is nice.

Good point. I still think the AFI list is better though. But this is a cool idea. I would suggest you change Finding Nemo to Toy Story or Shrek, if you think the list demands a computer animated film.

Don't bash Tootsie. The part where she throws her drink on Hoffman is classic.

that opens up an entire pandora's box, though, where i start doing things like replacing Drunken Master 2 w/ Crouching Tiger, and starting looking for a way to add Annie Hall, etc.

plus, i haven't seen Nemo and this will give me an excuse. and eventually i'm gonna start on the NY Times list of 1000, which should pretty much cover everything.

High Noon was my breaking point on that one.

Yeah, thats probably about 25 spots to high. But it isn't half as bad as the 67 ranking of the Manchurian Candidate which was a good idea, but poorly executed and shouldn't be on the list at all.
