Big Blind Defense
Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter
Preflop: Hero is BB with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. 2 folds, CO raises, 2 folds, Hero calls. Flop: (4.40 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, CO bets, Hero raises, CO 3-bets, Hero calls. Turn: (5.20 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, CO bets, Hero folds. Final Pot: 6.20 BB Opp is 43/13/1.6 over 30 hands. 1) Should I have called pre-flop? 2) Post-flop, how did I play? Background: My VP$IP is lower, as well as blind defense, then many other solid players. Well lower. My results are quite good, so no major concerns. But, I have been attempting to add a few hands. I had and have doubts about this hand in this situation. I consider off-suit Ks and As with medium to poor kickers to be the worse types of hands to add as they are easily dominated. I would not have played K8o or worse. |

Re: Big Blind Defense
I don't mind folding nines here against a straightforward player. Att. to steal blinds is a good stat to check, although it is slightly less valuable for a CO raiser.
[ QUOTE ] I would not have played K8o or worse. [/ QUOTE ] This is a problem. You don't have to be the favorite to defend your blind, and domination occurs a lot less than you'd think in blindsteal situations. You can tighten up to CO raises by some players who aren't thinking steal, but that's about it. |
