Your read on villian
full table second round of $22
I'm in late position and there is 1 limper before me. I have about 750 chips and I raise to 100 preflop. Villian in SB has 525 chips and reraises to 300, leaving himself with only 225. Do you read this as villian being very strong and trying to encourage a call or villian trying to leave himself with some chips in case it doesn't work out? |

I wouldnt give the villain credit - I'd say trying to leave himself some chips in case it didnt work out. At higher buy-in's I'd give him more credit. |

Re: Your read on villian
I might give him credit for a hand because 1. At lvl 2, blinds are t30, so there isn't much to defend and. 2. Unless villain has a read on you, reraising here with a bad hand would be such a stupid play at lvl 2, that someone would have to be a bad player or tilting. If the guy is a bad player or tilting, he would be more likely to push, as opposed to leaving himself a little something. In general, I think that just asking "is he bluffing" is less useful than actually analyzing what will happen if you call. The reason is that if you have something like J-6, he could be bluffing with a hand that beats you. Something like Q-4. So, instead of just asking "is he bluffing" ask: what hands would he do this with? what is the probability of him having these hands? how does my hand compare to the hands that he might have? what are my pot odds? |

Re: Your read on villian
I usually read him as strong here. He's not going to fold to a reraise as he is pot committed. He is also in the SB so he may very well push on the flop leaving you with a difficult decision unless you actually have a good hand.

Re: Your read on villian
I meant this as a general post, but in the hand I had AQ, so I had a 'good' hand.
If he is saving some chips in case he loses, I'm probably good or at least not a big dog. If he is betting less pushing because he is trying to entice me to call, then I'm probably dominated. |

Re: Your read on villian
That reminds me of why I didn't say what my cards were in the first place. I didn't really even consider calling. I was just wondering what people would put the villian on.
Borderline hands here for me would be TT-QQ. |

Re: Your read on villian
I read him as thinking he has the best hand.
However, a lot of players think ATs is the best hand. Still, you have an easy fold. -Jman28 |

Re: Your read on villian
This is so blatantly a big hand I might even use this move as a bluff sometime (wouldnt work against you). He is begging you to call...he wants action (otherwise he'd push) but he doesnt want it to be cheap for you...this screams of QQ-AA. I wouldnt think AK is likely bc he'd either just call or push with that.
