Unfortunately what followed were not his words. Pawlenty wasn't refering to the health care system as a whole, rather, he was refering to just the medicine. He was responding to people claiming that Canadian drugs were unsafe, to which he responded that if they are so unsafe 'show me the dead canadians.'

And not saying that I agree or disagree with the whole drugs from Canada thing. But doesn't he realize that those drugs are shipped to Canada for the express purpose of then sending them to the U.S. They're never there for use in Canada.

No dead Canadians?

Really?

You believe this?

And, if we have a single-payer system, then there will be no dead Americans?

Is this your argument?

Canadians live healthier, longer lives than Americans. They are doing something right.

They certainly live longer:

Human Development Index

Whether they live healthier lives would take longer to find out and be more open to debate. However I would imagine it to be the case.
