Re-raising w/ PPs
I was wondering what your guys' thoughts are on raising w/ PPs when playing short handed. At a 9 or 10 handed table most players would re-raise w/ AA,KK,QQ, & AK, with some re-raises w/ JJ,TT,&99 mixed in. In a 6 handed game do you guys switch to a mostly re-raising strategy with JJ,TT, & 99? Also, do you add any other pairs or AQ? What if it is 5, 4, or 3 handed? I am interested in everyone's general strategy for re-raising in short handed games. Also, if you re-raise w/ nonpaired cards you can include them also. I know this is a very generic question and the circumstances would change one's strategy & that's why I'm calling it a general strategy. We will assume the original raiser is tight-aggressive. I used to play full ring games and have recently switched to 5 and 6 handed games. When the games aren't full I am sometimes playing 3 or 4 handed. I have been doing well but there is always room for improvement. Since there isn't much info on short handed cash game play so I thought I'd see what the posters on here do in these situations.

Re: Re-raising w/ PPs
when are we talking here? preflop?
i'll definitely reraise with AA-QQ.. sometimes JJ-99 depending on the people im playing. usually calling with anything less or AK-AJ. also it depends on the amount of the raise im facing. |

Re: Re-raising w/ PPs
I reraise with AA-QQ, Call with AKs, AK, or MAYBE AQs.
Everything else goes into the muck. I play pretty tight, so if someone reraises a strong 4x raise from me , i have to believe im beat unless i have the mentioned hands above. Too tight/weak? |

Re: Re-raising w/ PPs
Depending on the spot, I might raise with any 2. Post specific hands, you'll get better answers.

Re: Re-raising w/ PPs
I think i mayve read the post wrong. I assumed i had been reraised and i was re-reraising(otherwise known as a push
) As far as just a single reraise, ill reraise with these hands : AA-JJ, AK, AKs, AQs. I just call with AQ, TT-88. To me AJs or unsuited is just too marginal to call a healthy raise or to even consider reraising. |

Re: Re-raising w/ PPs
Generally, pocket pairs go up in value pre-flop as the number of players goes down. Ace high is a very playable hand. Suited connectors lose value short handed because you will very rarely ever get correct odds to call.
