At what limit does bonuses become irrelevant?
Personally I'm playing 1/2, so a $100 reload is like a 50 extra BB, which is great.
But when you increase in limits the bonus has less value. $100 is still a $100, though. So when does the reload bonuses stop making a difference? |

When you can make more from rakeback than bonuses in equal amount of hands.

Re: At what limit does bonuses become irrelevant?
How about making both? Or do poker sites deduct the bonus from their affiliates?

Re: At what limit does bonuses become irrelevant?
Bonuses are definitely deducted, but it can be a choice a playing a site you have rakeback on and bonuswhoring elsewhere.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When you can make more from rakeback than bonuses in equal amount of hands. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- is that even possible? [/ QUOTE ] Of course it's possible. Already there are several players who don't even bother with UB's bonuses because they are slower to clear and they feel they are more profitable playing on party with or without rake-back (and regardless of whether this is actually true or not). At 10/20 6-max with $3-max rake the max that you contribute would be $0.50. If the average is $0.40 and you make 25% then that's $0.10/hd. that you earn in rake-back. Compare this with one of the party bonuses where you have to play 1k raked hands to earn $100. That's also earning $0.10 per hand (assuming you are playing high enough that all of your hands will be raked). Then think about the other sites where the bonuses take longer to clear than Party. with these rough calculations it seems obvious that for many party 10/20 6-max players earning decent rake-back it is just not in their interest to go around chasing bonuses at other sites. They do benefit by getting to check out a different site at a 'discounted' price if they are interested. But they are still getting a better 'price' to just keep playing their regular game at party I think. |

[ QUOTE ] When you can make more from rakeback than bonuses in equal amount of hands. [/ QUOTE ] is that even possible? [/ QUOTE ] Possible, but implausible Lets say the bonus is $100 for 1000 hands. Now assume each hand is raked the max $3 and you are playing a 6 person game. This would give any particular player 50 cents of contributed rake. If the affiliate gets 25% then it would come out to 1000 hands times 50 cents a hand times the affiliate rate of 25% is $125. If this whole amount is kicked back then the rakeback exceeds the bonus...but just barely (why did I even bother to make up this scenario?) |
