which level to start?
I'm a limit player that is wanting to dip into the No Limit pool a bit. I currently play the $5/10 6 max tables. I have about a $7000 working bankroll right now.
I've had pretty good success playing no limit in the past and also have done fairly well in online no limit tournaments. My problem is the bankroll management side of things. I know there is a 300BB rule of thumb on the limit side. Is there a similar rule of thumb for no limit? Which no limit tables should I be playing at? $1/2, $2/4, $3/6, etc? |

Re: which level to start?
i would start quite low if i were you, develop a strategy that your happy with and move up once you feel you can beat the current competition without too much trouble.

Re: which level to start?
rule of thumb is between 10-15xx the buy-in for the limit you play at.
If you are a successful 5/10 6 max.. try playing at the $50 party 6max or even full ring. with a 7k br I wouldn't bother with the $25 games.. they are just as stupid as the $50 ones for less money. Try multitabling there. see how you find it. if that goes well move up. I suggest you look at 25k hands at each limit before you move up... |

Re: which level to start?
for the "safe" player, the recommendation is 30 buy-ins. $7K is 35 buy-ins for the $200, but you probably want to start lower to get some practice in first...it's easy to lose a buy-in or 5...

Re: which level to start?
Just start slow, play the smaller table until you are sure you can crush the game, then move up. What's the hurry? If you start over your head you could get hurt big time and have to start all over building the roll.
Stick a toe in and see how it feels. |
